If You Have a Poking Wire or Irritation
Cover the sharp spot with orthodontic wax. You can also gently nudge the wire flat against the tooth using a clean pencil eraser or cotton swab.
If a Bracket Comes Loose or Breaks
If it’s still attached to the wire, leave it in place and cover it with wax. If it comes off completely, save it and bring it to your next visit.
If You’re Feeling General Soreness
Some tenderness is normal after getting braces or following an adjustment. Try a warm saltwater rinse (1 teaspoon of salt in 8 oz. warm water) or mild over-the-counter pain relief.
If an Aligner Is Lost or Broken
Call our office before switching trays. We’ll let you know whether to wear your previous aligner or if we’ll replace the one that’s missing or damaged.
