Here are some answers to the questions we are asked all the time about Invisalign. We hope they will help you realize that Invisalign may be just the solution you’ve been waiting for to get straight teeth and your perfect smile!
A: The short answer: Yes! In both clinical research and in orthodontic practices nationwide, Invisalign aligners have been proven effective at straightening teeth. In fact, 1.5 million patients have been successfully treated with Invisalign. And of course, we see outstanding results from our own Invisalign patients every day. (For example, just look at this smile!)
A: The aligners are made of clear, strong medical grade plastic (BPA free) that is virtually invisible when worn.
A: Wearing aligners is like having “contact lenses” for your teeth. They’re designed to fit over your teeth as comfortably and closely as possible so that you can barely feel them–and other people won’t notice them either.
A: Invisalign does the same thing that regular braces with brackets and archwires do – move teeth through appropriate placement of controlled force on the teeth. The difference with Invisalign is that every two weeks, the aligners are replaced with new ones. This reduces the amount of force delivered to your teeth, making your experience more comfortable. At each stage, only certain teeth are allowed to move. These movements are determined by your orthodontist’s treatment plan for that particular stage (another reason to choose an expert Invisalign Premier Provider orthodontist like Dr. Petrover). This results in an extremely efficient and comfortable system.
A: Absolutely! Age is no object for adults – as long as you and your mouth are healthy we can give you that beautiful smile that you’ve always dreamed of. We have many older patients who are in their 60s and 70s, and Invisalign is a great option for them.
A: Orthodontists can use Invisalign clear braces to treat the vast majority of patients with fully-erupted molars. Our youngest Invisalign patients are between the ages of 10 and 12.
A: Invisalign Teen would probably be a great option for him. His friends may never even know that he is in orthodontic treatment. And he doesn’t have to worry about getting cuts in his mouth from braces if a ball accidentally hits him. Get more info about Invisalign Teen here.
A: Legally? Yes. But the question is: do you want them to? Orthodontic training isn’t something that can be completed in a weekend certification course. Would you want your plastic surgeon doing your heart surgery? Of course not! That’s why it’s better to choose a specialist, like Dr. Petrover, who has completed a three year residency in orthodontics, who has successfully treated thousands of patients, and whose practice is entirely devoted to straightening teeth.
A: Get a second opinion! Different orthodontists have different opinions and methods of orthodontic treatment. It’s always a good idea to consult another expert with any medical issue. An orthodontist who specializes in Invisalign and who is up-to-date on the latest techniques may give you a different answer than your regular dentist, or even another orthodontist who treats only a few “easy” Invisalign® cases.
Orthodontist, Dr. Petrover has successfully treated many Invisalign patients who were told by their dentists or other orthodontists that they couldn’t get Invisalign. It’s all the more reason to schedule a complimentary braces consultation in either our Wellington orthodontics office or Boynton Beach orthodontics office.
A: Like other types of orthodontic treatment, the cost will vary depending on the complexity of the case. The cost is about the same as traditional metal braces, and we believe that the comfort and convenience of Invisalign are well worth it (our patients say the same thing!)
The only way to determine exactly how much Invisalign® will cost is by coming in for a complimentary braces consultation. But rest assured, we won’t let finances stand in the way of your treatment – we have a number of payment plans to fit any budget, and we do our best to maximize your insurance benefits, too.
A: Because orthodontic benefits differ significantly from policy to policy, we will be happy to explain your insurance benefits to you. Generally, if a patient has orthodontic benefits, Invisalign aligners should be covered to the same extent that conventional braces are.
