We’ll be honest with you up front: our offices aren’t inside West Palm Beach city limits. They’re just outside it, in Wellington and Boynton Beach, and families from across West Palm Beach have been making the short drive to us for more than 20 years. Some come for a second opinion after a consultation closer to home. Some come because a friend or coworker wouldn’t stop talking about their kid’s smile. Either way, the first visit is free, you’ll leave knowing your options and what they’d cost, and then you can decide whether we’re worth the drive.
Choosing an orthodontist is a decision you’d rather make only once, and you’ll want to get it right.
Dr. Jonathan Petrover has specialized in orthodontics for more than 20 years. He’s a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, and he attends 12 to 18 continuing education courses a year, which is well past what’s required. Over those years he’s treated thousands of patients across Palm Beach County, which means he’s almost certainly seen a bite like yours before.
He’s also the orthodontist you’ll actually see. Not a rotating panel of visiting doctors, and not a different face at every appointment. Our Wellington patients alone have left more than 290 Google reviews, averaging 4.9 stars, and what comes up most often in them isn’t the technology. It’s the staff, and getting a real explanation instead of a rushed one. You can read what our patients say in their own words.
The consultation is a $249 value and we don’t charge for it. It includes an initial exam, digital x-rays and a full discussion of your options with Dr. Petrover. By the end of it you’ll know whether you or your child needs treatment, which options would work, roughly how long it would take, and what the fee would be. You’re not committing to anything by coming in, and nobody will push you to sign that day.
Both offices are an easy drive from most of West Palm Beach, so you can pick whichever suits your week.
From central and western West Palm Beach, our Wellington office at 2465 S State Road 7 is usually the quicker trip: head west on Okeechobee or Southern Boulevard, then south on State Road 7. From southern West Palm Beach, our Boynton Beach office off South Military Trail is often easier, straight down I-95 or Military Trail.
It’s worth thinking about the drive before you choose any orthodontist. Treatment means coming back every few weeks for a year or two, so a trip that’s fine once becomes a real consideration by the tenth visit. That’s also why we make appointments count: adjustment visits are short, and if a bracket breaks between them, call us and we’ll get you seen the same day whenever possible rather than leaving you to wait.
Some families start at one office and switch to whichever is the easier drive once treatment is under way. Just ask us and we’ll take care of it.
| Option | Who tends to choose it |
|---|---|
| Metal braces | Kids and teens, and anyone who wants the most straightforward option. They handle complex cases well. |
| Ceramic braces | Teens and adults who want something less noticeable but still fixed in place. |
| Invisalign and clear aligners | Adults and older teens who want removable and near-invisible, and who’ll wear them as instructed. |
| Retainers | Everyone, after treatment. Also for patients whose teeth have shifted since an earlier round. |
Alongside traditional braces we also fit In-Ovation self-ligating braces, which hold the wire with a built-in clip instead of elastic ties, so adjustment appointments can run a little quicker. And instead of the goopy impression trays you might remember, we take digital impressions with a scanner. It takes a few minutes and there’s nothing to gag on.
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends a first orthodontic check-up by age seven. Most seven-year-olds don’t need treatment yet, and we simply keep an eye on things. When early treatment does help, two-phase treatment can make the second phase shorter. If you’re looking specifically for braces for kids, we treat children of all ages, and adults too: teeth move at any age, because the biology is the same at 40 as it is at 14.
There’s no single price for braces, and anyone who quotes you one before looking in your mouth is guessing. At your free consultation we work out your treatment plan first, then give you the actual fee for that plan, in writing, before you commit to anything.
One thing worth asking any orthodontist you’re comparing: what’s actually included. Ours covers your records and x-rays, the appliances you need through treatment, your retainers at the end, and follow-up appointments. We work with most PPO plans, including Delta Dental, Cigna, Aetna, MetLife, United Healthcare, Guardian and Humana, and we’ll check your orthodontic benefit for you. We also offer payment plans, so most families spread the cost monthly rather than paying up front. Our cost of treatment page walks through example payment structures, and our payment and insurance page covers what we accept.
