First, who will actually be doing the work? Your treatment is planned by Dr. Petrover, an orthodontic specialist.

Who plans and carries out your treatment

Orthodontics is Dr. Jonathan Petrover’s specialty, and it’s been that way for more than 20 years. He belongs to the American Association of Orthodontists, the Southern Association of Orthodontists, the South Florida Academy of Orthodontists and the Florida Association of Orthodontists. He also takes 12 to 18 continuing education courses a year, because the brackets and the scanners keep changing.

The American Association of Orthodontists explains that dental specialists complete four years of dental school and then study their specialty full-time for two or more years in an accredited program. That training is what a complicated adult bite gets here.

What that means day to day is continuity: the specialist who reads your x-rays and writes your plan oversees your treatment from then on.

Every appointment happens in Suite 600 at 2465 S State Road 7, from records and adjustments to repairs and retainer checks.

We’re open 8am to 5pm, Monday through Thursday, and we’ll look for a time that fits around your working day.

If you’d rather treatment didn’t announce itself at work, ceramic brackets and In-Ovation self-ligating braces are both fitted here, and so is Invisalign. You can pay at the desk by card or contactless. And if a bracket lets go or a wire starts poking between visits, call us and we’ll book you in to fix it.

From First Consultation to Finished Bite

That first appointment is the free consultation. Dr. Petrover examines your teeth and your bite, takes digital x-rays, and he’ll go through what he finds with you.

Records are taken with a digital scanner rather than a putty tray. The scan takes a few minutes, and your teeth appear on the screen as it goes. For an adult the x-rays carry extra weight, because any crown or implant already in place is part of what the plan gets built around.

Then you’ll talk it through. Four answers come out of that conversation: what Dr. Petrover sees in your records, which appliances would work on your bite, roughly how long it would take, and what your own fee would be. If something needs taking care of with your dentist first, he’ll say so.

On timing: compared with a child’s, an adult timeline can run longer, because adult teeth sit more firmly in the jaw and take more time and pressure to move. They still move!

Who Adult Treatment Suits, and What It Costs in Wellington
