You’ll find us on State Road 7 in Suite 600, open Monday to Thursday, 8am to 5pm. Most people who ask us about Invisalign in Wellington fall into two groups. Adults who’ve thought about straightening their teeth quietly for years and have finally decided to ask the question out loud. And parents of a teenager who’ll happily wear a clear tray but won’t wear brackets on a soccer field at Village Park. Both start the same way here, and it costs you nothing to find out. You come in, we scan your teeth, and Dr. Petrover tells you whether aligners will actually do what you want them to do. If they won’t, he’ll say so and tell you what would actually get you the smile you’re after.

Why Wellington Patients Choose Petrover Orthodontics for Invisalign

There’s one question worth settling before you pick an Invisalign provider in Wellington: does it matter who does this, or is Invisalign just Invisalign? It matters, and the difference is in the training.

Who is Dr. Petrover?

Dr. Jonathan Petrover has worked as a specialist in orthodontics for more than 20 years. He’s a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the Southern Association of Orthodontists, the South Florida Academy of Orthodontists and the Florida Association of Orthodontists. He also attends 12 to 18 continuing education courses a year.

He’s the orthodontist you’ll see at every visit. Over those years he’s treated thousands of patients at our two Palm Beach County offices, so whatever your teeth are doing, he’s very likely straightened a set doing the same thing. If you’d rather see who you’re dealing with first, you can meet the team before you book.

A specialist, not a side service

Plenty of general dentists offer aligners now, and in most cases they can put a set of trays on your teeth. The difference is the training. The American Association of Orthodontists explains that dental specialists finish four years of dental school, then study their specialty full-time for two or more years in an accredited program. A dentist who provides aligners, the AAO adds, is still not an orthodontist.

That matters more with Invisalign than people expect, because Invisalign makes the trays; it doesn’t design your treatment. Your orthodontist writes the prescription and plans every movement, and the trays get made to those specifications. Two doctors, same patient, same lab, different plan. If you want the longer version, we’ve written up what an orthodontist actually is.

Invisalign comes up constantly in what our Wellington patients write about us on Google. You can read what our patients say in their own words.

What Makes Invisalign at Our Wellington Office Different

Three things come up so often at consultations that we may as well answer them here, before you’ve driven over.

Digital scans, not putty trays

If your memory of orthodontics involves a tray of putty and the urge to gag, that part is gone. We take digital impressions with an iTero Scanner instead. It takes a few minutes, there’s nothing to swallow, and you watch 3D images of your own teeth build up on the screen while it happens. Nobody here has missed the goop since we switched. And comfort isn’t the only reason we did. A more accurate model of your teeth means a better-fitting set of trays, because every aligner in your series gets built off that one scan.

Everything is included in your fee

Your fee here is one number, set before you start, and it covers:

  • your diagnostic records
  • the appliances you need throughout treatment
  • your retainers at the end
  • follow-up appointments

No add-on fees, and no invoice halfway through for something you’d assumed was already covered. It’s worth asking what a fee covers wherever you consult, so you’re comparing the same thing.

If an aligner breaks or goes missing

It happens, usually in a napkin at a restaurant. Call the office before you switch to your next tray, because moving on early can undo progress. We’ll tell you whether to go back to your previous aligner or come in for a replacement, and we’ll get you seen the same day whenever possible. Our page on same-day help for a broken appliance covers what to do in the meantime.

How Invisalign Treatment Works at Our Wellington Office

Most of the worry about aligners is worry about the unknown, so here’s the whole arc, from the first scan to the retainer.

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a system of clear, removable trays that move your teeth a little at a time. The American Association of Orthodontists describes clear aligners as thin plastic trays custom-formed to your mouth, which sequentially apply the pressure needed to move teeth, with each aligner typically worn one week at a time, at least 22 hours a day, moving teeth a fraction of a millimeter at a time. You take them out to eat, to drink anything other than water, and to brush and floss. There’s more on how Invisalign works at both our offices if you want the full picture.

What your first visit looks like

Your first visit is a free comprehensive consultation, a $249 value, at our Wellington office on South State Road 7. It includes an initial exam, digital x-rays and a full treatment consultation with Dr. Petrover. He’ll look at your bite, take a scan, and go through what he sees on the 3D images of your own teeth before you’ve committed to anything. You’ll leave knowing whether aligners suit your case, what the alternatives are, and the fee for your own plan. We’re open Monday to Thursday, 8am to 5pm.

Day to day in your aligners

The trays do nothing in a drawer. That’s the whole deal with Invisalign: it asks you to keep them in for all but a couple of hours of the day and take them out only for meals and brushing, and in exchange nobody notices you’re wearing them. Most people find the first two days of each new tray feel tight, then it fades. You’ll swap to the next set on the schedule Dr. Petrover sets, and come in every so often so he can check the teeth are tracking the way the plan says they should. If they’ve drifted off it, he’d rather find out at a check-in than at the end.

After your aligners: retainers

Teeth drift back toward where they started if nothing holds them, so treatment doesn’t finish when the last tray comes out. You’ll be fitted with the retainer that holds your result, and wearing it is what protects the smile you just spent all that time straightening. Retainers are part of your treatment fee here rather than a separate bill at the end. We’ll show you how long to wear it and how to look after it, and if one cracks or goes missing, call us.

Is Invisalign Right for You, and What Does It Cost in Wellington?

Two things stop most people from booking: not knowing whether they’re a candidate, and not knowing what they’d be signing up to pay. Both are answerable.

Who Invisalign works well for

The AAO lists gapped teeth, crowded teeth, overbite, underbite, open bite, crossbite and crooked teeth among the conditions aligners most commonly treat, and adds that they aren’t right for everyone. In practice, the people who do well with them are the ones who’ll actually keep them in. Age isn’t the barrier people assume it is. Tooth movement depends on healthy bone and gums rather than a birthday, and many of our aligner patients are adults who decided they’d waited long enough. For younger patients, aligners for children and teens covers what changes while the jaw is still growing.

When braces may be the better choice

Aligners aren’t automatically the right answer.

Option Who it tends to suit How visible Removable
Invisalign clear aligners Adults and older teens who want a removable option and will wear it as instructed. Nearly invisible Yes
Metal braces Complex bites, and anyone who’d rather not have to remember anything. Visible No
Ceramic braces Teens and adults who want fixed braces that don’t show much. Tooth-colored, low-key No
In-Ovation self-ligating braces Available here as a fixed option; the wire sits in a built-in clip rather than elastic ties. Visible No

If you’re weighing them, how the braces options compare walks through each one.

What Invisalign costs, and how insurance fits

There’s no single price for Invisalign. The fee tracks how far your teeth have to move and how long you’ll be in treatment. What we can show you is what orthodontic treatment costs here, which publishes the payment structures below as a rough guide.

Treatment Orthodontic Benefits in one’s Dental Insurance Per month Down payment
Comprehensive Treatment without Orthodontic Benefits $190 – $250 $500
Comprehensive Treatment with $1500 of Orthodontic Benefits $140 – $190 $500
Limited Treatment without Orthodontic Benefits $135 – $275 $500
Limited Treatment with $1500 of Orthodontic Benefits $20 – $150 $500

Those are examples, not a quote. Yours gets set at the consultation, once there’s a plan to price. Dental plans with orthodontic coverage usually cover aligners and braces equally, and we verify your benefit and file the claims for you. We work with most PPO plans, including:

  • Aetna
  • Cigna
  • United Healthcare
  • Assurant
  • Guardian
  • MetLife
  • Humana
  • Delta Dental
  • Solstice

Invisalign and Your Other Options in Wellington

Most people want to read a bit more before they pick up the phone. Here’s where the rest of it lives.

Where to read more

We keep our full Invisalign FAQ for the questions patients actually ask us at the chair, from whether aligners really work to what happens if your dentist has told you you’re not a candidate. It’s the longer answer to most of what’s on this page. If you’re still weighing aligners against fixed braces, the comparison table above sets your options side by side. And rather than take our word for the results, you can read what Invisalign patients here have said about theirs.

Wellington Invisalign FAQs

What is the average cost of Invisalign in Florida?
There isn’t a reliable single average, because the fee tracks how far your teeth have to move. Our own published examples run $190 to $250 a month for comprehensive treatment with a $500 down payment, and less if your dental plan includes orthodontic benefits. Your own figure comes out of the free consultation, once there’s a plan to price. Our cost of treatment page has the full examples.
What disqualifies you from getting Invisalign?
Very little disqualifies you permanently. Active gum disease or untreated decay needs treating with your dentist first, because teeth should only be moved in a healthy mouth. Beyond that it comes down to the movements your case needs, and the AAO notes clear aligners aren’t right for everyone. An exam is how you find out which group you’re in.
What is the 30 minute rule with Invisalign?
It’s a rule of thumb about how long aligners stay out at a meal, not an official instruction. The number that matters is total wear time. The AAO says each aligner is typically worn one week at a time, at least 22 hours a day, which leaves roughly two hours across the day for eating, drinking and brushing.
What age is best for Invisalign?
There isn’t a single best age. Aligners suit older teens once the adult teeth are through, and adults of any age, because tooth movement depends on healthy bone and gums rather than a birthday. Younger children are often better served by other appliances while the jaw is still growing. Our page on aligners for children and teens covers that end of it.
What are the downsides of wearing Invisalign?
The main one is that they only work while they’re in your mouth, so the result depends on you. Most cases also need small tooth-colored attachments bonded on to give the trays something to grip. You take them out for every meal and every coffee. And some bites simply move better with fixed braces.
Which teeth are hardest to move with Invisalign?
It depends less on the tooth than on the movement. Rotating a rounded tooth, or moving one up or down in the bone, asks more of a plastic tray than tipping a tooth sideways. That’s what the bonded attachments are for, and the AAO notes aligners can be paired with orthodontic elastics. Dr. Petrover plans for that at the start.
How long do Invisaligns last?
Three separate things get called this. Each individual aligner is typically worn about a week before you move to the next, per the AAO. Full treatment runs as long as your teeth need to travel, which your plan sets out at the consultation. The retainer afterwards is what holds the result, and that one you keep wearing.
This page is general information about orthodontic treatment, not medical or dental advice, and reading it doesn’t create a doctor-patient relationship. Results vary, and whether Invisalign suits you can only be decided after an in-person exam. Any figures shown are the payment examples published on our cost of treatment page, not a quote. Please speak with Dr. Petrover about your own care.
