Meet Dr. Jonathan Petrover
For more than 20 years, Dr. Jonathan Petrover has worked as a specialist in orthodontics, and he’s been practicing in South Florida since his family moved here in 1996. He’s a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the Southern Association of Orthodontists, the South Florida Academy of Orthodontists and the Florida Association of Orthodontists. He attends 12 to 18 continuing-education courses a year. What an orthodontic specialist is
The American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) explains that a dental specialist completes four years of dental school and then studies the specialty full-time for two or more years in an accredited program. For orthodontists, that training centers on how teeth and jawbones move and on growth and development. That matters for a child whose teeth are still coming in.

If a bracket breaks or an aligner goes missing
Call the office first (we’re open Monday to Thursday), and we’ll help the same day whenever possible. Lost or damaged aligner? Call before switching trays. What happens at your child’s first visit
- Fill in the health forms online, and bring your insurance card and any recent x-rays (see what to bring to a first visit).
- We take x-rays and photos of your child’s teeth, and you’re welcome to stay alongside.
- Dr. Petrover reviews them and takes a brief look inside your child’s mouth, done without instruments.
- He explains what he sees, the options (braces or Invisalign Teen), when to start and how long treatment would take. Our treatment coordinator then goes over payment options.
- If Dr. Petrover recommends waiting, we’ll send you a reminder as the time approaches.
The consultation is free, a $249 value. It includes a full orthodontic exam, any needed digital x-rays and a one-on-one consult with Dr. Jonathan Petrover. Bring your questions, and your teen’s!

When should your child first come in?
The AAO recommends that children have their first check-up with an orthodontist by age 7.
We follow that, but we don’t routinely start treatment early: in our experience, most children won’t gain anything from braces and orthodontic treatment before second grade. So an early visit may simply end with “let’s wait.”
Older child or teen who’s never been seen? It’s never too late to bring them in.

What treatment costs, and how payments work
Your child’s fee follows the case, so there’s no single number to quote here. The cost of braces varies with the type, complexity and duration of treatment. You’ll leave the free consultation with one clear, all-inclusive price, set once Dr. Petrover and our treatment coordinator have your child’s plan. From there, in-house financing can spread that fee into low, predictable monthly payments, and auto-pay is available.

Insurance, HSA and FSA
We verify your child’s orthodontic benefits before treatment starts, file all claims on your behalf and follow up on them. We work with most PPO plans, including Aetna, Cigna, United Healthcare, Assurant, Guardian, MetLife, Humana, Delta Dental and Solstice. We’re HSA and FSA friendly too, so you can use pre-tax dollars for braces or Invisalign. Weighing braces against aligners?
