If your memory of orthodontics involves a tray of putty and the urge to gag, that part is gone. We take digital impressions with an iTero Scanner instead. It takes a few minutes, there’s nothing to swallow, and you watch 3D images of your own teeth build up on the screen while it happens. Comfort isn’t the only reason we switched. A more accurate model of your teeth gives Dr. Petrover a better starting point, because your aligners are planned from your scan.
Everything is included in your fee
Your fee here is one number, set before you start, and it covers:

How Invisalign Treatment Works, From First Scan to Retainer
What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is a system of clear, removable trays that move your teeth a little at a time. The American Association of Orthodontists describes clear aligners as thin plastic trays custom-formed to your mouth that sequentially apply the pressure needed to move teeth, and says they should be worn at least 22 hours a day. Each aligner is typically worn for a week or two, on the schedule Dr. Petrover sets. You take them out to eat, to drink anything other than water, and to brush and floss. What your first visit looks like
Your first visit is a free comprehensive consultation, a $249 value, at our Wellington office on South State Road 7. It includes an initial exam, digital x-rays and a full treatment consultation with Dr. Petrover. We’ll take a scan, and he’ll look at your bite and go through what he sees on the 3D images of your own teeth before you’ve committed to anything. You’ll leave knowing whether aligners suit your case, what the alternatives are, and the fee for your own plan.
Day to day in your aligners
The trays do nothing in a drawer. That’s the whole deal with Invisalign: it asks you to keep them in for all but a couple of hours of the day and take them out only for meals and brushing, and in exchange they’re hard to spot. Each new tray can feel tight for the first couple of days, then that fades. You’ll swap to each new set when he says to, and come in every so often so he can check the teeth are tracking the way the plan says they should. If they’ve drifted off it, he’d rather find out at a check-in than at the end.
After your aligners: retainers

Who Invisalign works well for
Aligners can treat gapped teeth, crowded teeth, overbite, underbite, open bite, crossbite and crooked teeth, depending on how severe they are, though they aren’t right for everyone. In practice, the people who do well with them are the ones who’ll actually keep them in. Age isn’t the barrier people assume it is. Healthy teeth can be moved at any age, though adult treatment can need more planning or take longer, and we treat patients in their 60s and 70s.
