How Invisalign Treatment Works, From First Visit to Retainer
What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is a brand of clear aligners: thin, plastic-like trays custom-formed to your mouth that sequentially apply the pressure needed to move teeth. The AAO says aligners should be worn at least 22 hours a day. Each aligner is typically worn for a week or two, on the schedule Dr. Petrover sets, and trays come out to eat, drink, brush and floss.
What your first visit looks like
Your consultation is free, a $249 value, and covers an exam, any digital x-rays you need, and one-on-one time with Dr. Petrover. You leave with one all-inclusive price for your plan, and no commitment.
Comfort, a lost aligner, and the retainer after
Mild discomfort is common for the first few days with new aligners, and it’s temporary. Lost or cracked an aligner? Call before switching trays; we’ll tell you whether to reuse the previous tray or replace it. If there’s facial trauma, swelling, uncontrolled bleeding or severe pain, go to the nearest emergency room or urgent care first, then call us. When treatment ends, you move on to the retainer that holds your result.
